What Actually Is An Erectile Dysfunction Issue?

Whilst many men have heard about erectile dysfunction issues as a subtopic of sexual performance problems, few people actually know how to specifically categorize the issues and identify the signs and symptoms of the problem if and when it occurs.

In many cases, erectile dysfunction goes completely under the radar, and is disregarded as a temporary or annoying short term problem. The reality is that it is in your best interests to know how to identify such an issue, because not only can it affect your sex life, it can also be a sign of more dangerous underlying health issues.

Signs That You Have an Erectile Dysfunction Problem

There are two major indications of an erectile disorder:

  • Total inability to get an erection, even when aroused.
  • Limp or "half way" erection - which goes away rapidly once arousal stops.

Let's take the time to explain each of these indications more clearly, so that you are able to identify and diagnose an erectile problem without having to consult a doctor.

Complete Inability to Get an Erection

If you are in a state of arousal, and simply cannot achieve even the slightest bit of hardness in your penis, you are probably suffering from a more severe case of erectile dysfunction. In some cases, the penis will not react to any stimulation whatsoever, and therefore will not allow you to participate in sexual activities.

Often, when this is the case, you will not get an erection at any time of the day. For example, spontaneous erections or erections in the morning will be non-existent.

This is a clear indication that you need to seek help, and it is highly recommended that you do take action, because this type of erectile dysfunction can indicate a more serious underlying health issue which might be the overall cause of the problem.

Soft or Very Temporary Erections

Another type of erectile dysfunction is categorized by the length of time that an erection stays hard, or the degree of hardness that can be maintained during intense stimulation. For example, if you are suffering from the following issues, it is likely that you have a mild form of erectile dysfunction:

  • Erection is soft and penetration is difficult.
  • Erection takes less than a minute to fully relax.

Once again, this should be checked by a doctor, because it can indicate things such as cardiovascular issues and disease.
